The Unreal plugin
Install from Fab and what the plugin does with and without an account.
The Deltaship plugin turns a packaged build into a patch-ready release, checks it, tells you how big the next update will be, and uploads it to your studio. It is free and supports Unreal Engine 5.5 to 5.8.
What works without an account#
Everything below runs on your machine, with no sign-in:
- Prepare a packaged build so updates can be small. See Prepare and verify a build.
- Verify a build: check that every file is exactly as prepared.
- Compare two builds to see how much players would download. See Compare builds and patch size.
- Check packaging settings that make updates bigger than they need to be.
- Export a release to a folder. See Export, sign in and publish.
What needs a Deltaship account#
- Uploading releases to your studio.
- Publishing, your launcher and delivery to players.
Install#
- Install Deltaship into your engine from Fab (coming soon), or copy the plugin folder into your project's
Pluginsfolder. - Open your project and enable Deltaship under Edit > Plugins.
- Restart the editor.
Open the plugin with Window > Deltaship, or the Deltaship button on the toolbar. The Deltaship tab walks through four steps: package and prepare, compare with a previous build, export to folder, and upload.
Set up the plugin#
- In the Studio dashboard, open Settings (or the game's page) and find the Plugin setup card.
- Copy each value into Project Settings > Plugins > Deltaship in the Unreal Editor: Server address, Studio, Studio id, and from the game's page, Game id.
- Set Channel, for example
live.
The publish token does not go in these settings: paste it in the Deltaship tab under 4. Upload. See Publish tokens and CI.
Project settings#
The plugin's settings are saved in the project's config, so your whole team shares them. They are not secret.
| Setting | What it is |
|---|---|
| Server address | The Deltaship server. The plugin's default is right unless Plugin setup shows another one. |
| Studio | Your studio's short name, from Plugin setup. |
| Studio id | Your studio's id, starting with org_, from Plugin setup. Needed to upload. |
| Game id | The game's id, starting with gam_, from Plugin setup on the game's page. |
| Channel | The release channel uploads go to, such as live or beta. |
| Launch arguments | Extra command-line arguments the launcher passes to the game. |
| Build configuration | Shipping or Development, for packaging from the plugin. |
| Package output folder | Where packaged builds go. Empty means Saved/UDTK/Builds in your project. |
Your publish token is never stored in these settings. See Publish tokens and CI.
Supported platforms#
Builds for Windows (64-bit) can be published today, and your players' launcher runs on Windows. Mac builds and a Mac launcher are coming later; see Launcher updates and platforms.
