Your first release in 10 minutes

From a packaged build to players installing it through your launcher.

This page takes one build from your Unreal project to a player's launcher. It assumes you have a studio and a game; if not, start with Create a studio.

1. Create a publish token#

  1. In the dashboard, open Settings, then Publish tokens.
  2. Under Create a token, give it a name (for example "My editor"), set Access to Upload and publish, and choose Create token.
  3. Copy the token. It is shown once.

More on tokens in Publish tokens and CI.

2. Package and prepare the build#

  1. Package your game for Windows in Unreal.
  2. Open the game's page in the dashboard. Copy the values on its Plugin setup card into Project Settings > Plugins > Deltaship in the Unreal Editor, and set Channel to live.
  3. Open the Deltaship tab (Window > Deltaship), choose the packaged build, prepare it, then verify it. See Prepare and verify a build.

3. Upload#

In the Deltaship tab, paste your publish token and choose Sign in, then Upload release. The plugin sends only what your studio does not already have. When it finishes, the release appears as a draft on the game's page in the dashboard.

4. Publish#

On the game's page, find the draft and choose Publish. It is now the live release on that channel.

5. Design your launcher#

Open Launcher, upload your logo, pick your accent color and choose Publish. See The launcher builder.

6. Invite a player and install#

  1. Open Players and invite yourself or a tester by email.
  2. The invite links to your player portal, where they set a password.
  3. They sign in to your launcher and choose Install.

To give players your own installer, build the launcher from Launcher in the dashboard; see Installer and launcher builds. The Quickstart covers the whole path step by step.

Next updates#

Package again, prepare, upload and publish. Players download only what changed; see How updates reach players.
