FAQ
Short answers to common questions.
Is the Unreal plugin free?#
Yes. Preparing, verifying, comparing and exporting builds work without an account. Uploading and delivering to players need a Deltaship studio; the Free plan is enough to start. See The Unreal plugin.
Which Unreal Engine versions are supported?#
Unreal Engine 5.5 to 5.8.
Which platforms can players use?#
Windows today. Mac is coming later. See Launcher updates and platforms.
Do players need an account?#
Yes: an account with your studio, created from an invite or by open sign-up on your portal. See Players and the player portal.
How big are updates?#
Players download only what changed since the version they have, even inside large files. Use the plugin's comparison to see the exact figure before you publish, and avoid the packaging settings that make updates bigger.
What if an update is interrupted?#
The next attempt picks up where it stopped, and the game on disk stays playable throughout. See How updates reach players.
Can I go back to an earlier release?#
Yes, with Roll back to this on the game's page, as long as the release is still kept. See Channels and publishing.
Can players play offline?#
Yes. An installed game always plays, even offline or while your studio is paused.
Does my launcher say Deltaship on it?#
On Free, the launcher and portal show a small "Powered by Deltaship". It is removed on Starter and up. The launcher installs under your studio's name and icon on every plan.
Can I use my own storage?#
Yes, on Pro and up: Cloudflare R2, Amazon S3, Google Cloud Storage or another S3-compatible store. Azure Blob Storage is planned. Other plans use Deltaship storage. See Your own storage.
Can I publish from CI?#
Yes, on every plan, with the Deltaship GitHub Action or the command-line publisher, using a publish token from your CI secrets. See Publishing from CI.
How do I upgrade or cancel?#
An owner opens Settings, then Plan & usage. Payments are handled by Paddle. See Upgrade, change plan and cancel.
Can I get my own installer with my studio's name?#
Yes. Set the name and icon under Launcher, then request a build. See Installer and launcher builds.
Where is my publish token stored?#
In your own user settings folder on your computer, never in the project. See Publish tokens and CI.
What happens if I stop using a Free studio?#
Warnings at 60 and 75 days, paused at 90, release files deleted at 120; your account, games, players and launcher design are kept. See Inactivity, payments and downgrades.
